“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
– John 10:10 (NKJV)
From the very beginning of Scripture, we see a God who operates in overflow. Genesis 1:20 says, “Then God said, ‘Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures…’” The first impression God gave humanity was His nature to lavish, to overflow, to multiply. There’s nothing about God that is minimal or stingy—He is an abundant God. Jesus, the Son of God, echoes this truth in John 10:10: “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” This verse isn’t merely poetic—it’s prophetic. It defines Christ’s mission and reveals the intention of God for your life.
But what does it mean to live abundantly? Abundantly means beyond measure, superior, extraordinary, and overflowing. Jesus is not talking about just scraping by. He’s not referring to survival—He’s promising a life that flourishes. This abundance includes every area of life. We were created in the image of God, who Himself is a triune being (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). As such, we reflect that divine trinity: we are spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a body. The abundant life Christ offers is one that fills every dimension of our existence. Spiritually, He wants us rooted and deeply connected to Him. Emotionally, He wants our hearts healed and whole. Physically, He wants our bodies strong and healthy. Financially, maritally, socially—He wants His people to thrive.
The abundant life Christ offers is one that fills every dimension of our existence.
But here’s the reality many face: though abundance has been promised, many still live in lack—of peace, of joy, of hope. Why? One reason is found in Hosea 4:6: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” We can’t live in the reality of what we don’t know is available to us. When we don’t understand the inheritance that comes through Christ, we live beneath our privileges.
It’s time to believe and declare that your season of not enough has officially ended. It’s time to stop preparing for drought and start preparing for downpour. God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). If He said He’s bringing abundance, then abundance is on the way.
Abundance, however, is not an end—it’s a means. It’s not just about comfort; it’s about capacity. God fills you so you can pour out. He blesses you so you can bless others. He multiplies you so you can multiply others. That’s why, before He sends abundance, He often stretches your container. You’ve been praying for overflow, but God’s been working on your heart—removing fear, increasing faith, pruning habits. Why? Because you can’t receive new wine in old wineskins (Luke 5:37). Before the abundance comes, He prepares the vessel.
Song of Worship
Standing, Standing – 1x
Standing on the promises of Christ my Saviour 1x
Standing, Standing – 1x
I am Standing on the promises of God – 1x
Prayer – Father, I thank You for being the God of abundance. You are not limited, lacking, or restrained. You desire for me to flourish in every area of my life. Today, I align myself with Your promise. I reject a mindset of lack, fear, and limitation. I receive the full life Jesus came to give—life overflowing with Your joy, peace, strength, and favor. Lord, stretch me to become the vessel that can carry Your abundance. Open my heart to trust You fully. Help me to walk by faith, not by what I see. And let my life be a testimony of Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
