“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.”
1 Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV)
God calls each of us to be champions in His kingdom, not for earthly trophies, but for an eternal crown. But while it is attractive to be called a champion, champions are not born—they are made through discipline, perseverance, and reliance on God.
The Bible is filled with stories of people who, despite challenges, emerged victorious through faith. From David defeating Goliath to Paul enduring hardship to preach the gospel, we see that a champion’s journey requires courage, obedience, and steadfastness.
A champion is someone who recognizes that life is a spiritual race that requires diligence, focus, and divine empowerment. Many times, people desire victory but are unwilling to make the necessary sacrifices. Just as athletes train their bodies and discipline their lifestyles to perform well in competitions, we must also train ourselves spiritually. This means immersing ourselves in God’s Word, living a life of prayer, and resisting distractions that can pull us away from our purpose.
A champion is someone who recognizes that life is a spiritual race that requires diligence, focus, and divine empowerment.
Champions also understand that their success is not by their own strength but by God’s grace. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
When we rely on God, He equips us with the wisdom, strength, and endurance we need to fulfill our calling.
Moreover, champions never give up. The journey may be filled with trials, setbacks, and moments of doubt, but persistence is key. James 1:12 says, “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” Champions press on, knowing that their reward is not just in this life but in eternity.
So rise up and run your race with purpose. Embrace the discipline, endure the trials, and fix your eyes on Jesus—the ultimate Champion. You are not striving for temporary applause but for an eternal crown that will never fade. Let God shape you, strengthen you, and send you forth as a true champion for His glory.
