“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.”
 – Isaiah 55:8 (NKJV)

Growth begins in the mind. You cannot rise higher in life if your thoughts remain low. God is the highest, and His ways and thoughts are far above ours. However, the beautiful truth is that we can close this gap. Every time we elevate our thinking, we draw closer to God’s level.

When David learned that Ahithophel had joined Absalom, he was afraid—not because of Ahithophel’s strength, but because of his counsel. The Bible tells us that Ahithophel’s advice was regarded as if one had inquired from the oracle of God (2 Samuel 16:23 NKJV). This illustrates a powerful truth: a person can develop their thinking to a level where their words carry divine weight.

So, what’s stopping you from upgrading your mind?

Three Ways to Improve Your Thinking and Go Higher

1. Choose and Control Your Thoughts

You are responsible for your thoughts. Don’t let your mind wander freely—choose what you focus on. Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) encourages us to think on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. If you dwell on negativity, you will become bitter. But if you think about what is good, you will become better.

Joshua 1:8 (NKJV) tells us that meditating on the Word day and night leads to success. This consistent, intentional thinking is the engine driving your next level.

2. Read and Research

Reading is one of the most powerful ways to upgrade your mind. If you want to improve, immerse yourself in literature on the subject. Moses was educated in the wisdom of Egypt (Acts 7:22 NIV), equipping him to lead the Israelites out of slavery. Do you think Pharaoh was educating the slaves? No! God strategically placed Moses in the palace.

You’re never too old to learn. Growth does not end with a certificate. Daniel 9:2 (NKJV) states, “I, Daniel, understood by the books.” Reading leads to understanding, which informs our prayers and actions.

Anything that does not consume you cannot bless you.

Proverbs 15:14 (NIV) says, “The discerning heart seeks knowledge.” A hungry mind is one that rises. If you stop learning, you stop growing—and you may find yourself watching others ascend while you remain behind, feeling bitter and confused.

3. Expose Yourself to Higher Thoughts

The highest thoughts are God’s thoughts. Every time you read the Bible, you expose yourself to divine wisdom.

John 6:63 (NKJV) reminds us, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” The Word of God breathes life into your soul. The book of Proverbs is an excellent place to start; its wisdom will rub off on you. Pray as Solomon did in 1 Kings 3:9 (NKJV): “Lord, give me an understanding heart.”

When you pray in tongues, you align your spirit with God’s Spirit, tapping into mysteries and divine revelations. 1 Corinthians 14:2,4 (KJV) states, “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God.” It’s like conducting a spiritual search for understanding, as the Holy Spirit reveals God’s mind to you.

Anything that does not consume you cannot bless you. If success, wisdom, or breakthrough does not fill your thoughts, it will not become your reality.

Prayer – Lord, help me improve my thoughts. I do not want to stay on the same level. Give me an understanding heart. Teach me to think deeply, to read wisely, and to pray strategically. Help me rise by aligning my mind with Your mind. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
