Arise and Walk: Possessing the Vision

Vision is critical to fulfilling God’s purpose for your life. It’s where the journey begins. God gives you a glimpse of what He has planned, igniting hope and faith. However, vision alone is not enough. Many of us have written down visions inspired by God, yet they remain unrealized because we fail to take the next essential step: arising.

Genesis 13:14-17 teaches us a profound lesson. After God gave Abraham the vision of greatness, He instructed him to arise and walk through the land. The promise was clear, but it required action. Vision without action is like a seed never planted; it holds potential but never bears fruit. To "arise" is more than just standing up. It means to prepare yourself for action and engage in what God has called you to do.

In 1 Samuel 9:3 (NKJV), Saul’s father instructed him, “Arise, go and look for the donkeys.” Saul didn’t just hear the command; he acted and embarked on a journey that ultimately led to his anointing as king. Just as Saul travelled far and wide to find his father’s donkeys, fulfilling the vision may require persistence, effort, and faith through challenges.

Vision without action is like a seed never planted; it holds potential but never bears fruit.

In 1 Samuel 16:12 (NKJV), when David was brought before Samuel, God said to Samuel, “Arise, anoint him.” Samuel was already standing, but God’s command to “arise” meant to get ready to act – to step into the moment and fulfill God’s purpose. The same applies to us. It is not enough to have a vision, no matter how divine or inspired it is. We must arise, prepare ourselves, and take practical steps toward realizing that vision.

God’s promises are vast and powerful, but they require participation. Abraham had to walk the length and width of the land to claim it as his own. Similarly, we must move from just believing in the vision to actively pursuing it.

God’s command to “arise” comes with His strength. If He has given you the vision, He will also empower you to fulfill it. Don’t wait for perfect conditions. Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NKJV) says, “He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.” Start now, trusting God to guide and sustain you.

When God tells you to arise, it’s because He has already prepared the land for you. The promise is certain; your action is the bridge between the vision and its fulfillment.

Remember His faithfulness to Abraham. The land Abraham walked on became the inheritance of generations. The vision God gives you isn’t just for you; it has the potential to impact countless others. Arise and walk, not just for yourself but for those who will be blessed through your obedience.

I See You

Song by Chris Tomlin / Brandon Lake

Prayer -  Heavenly Father, thank You for the vision You have placed in my heart. I recognize that vision alone is not enough, and I ask for Your strength and guidance as I arise and act. Help me to overcome fear and doubt, and to trust in Your faithfulness. May my steps be aligned with Your will and may the vision You’ve given me come to full fruition for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
