"Then God blessed them, and God said to them,
'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it;
have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air,
and over every living thing that moves on the earth.'”

God’s design for man is to run on blessings. It is part of the framework of God’s creation of man. In addition to being created in His image and likeness, God’s instruction to man immediately after his creation is a blessing. Embedded in God’s blessing is the revelation of dominion. The blessing gives dominion to be fruitful, multiply and take charge in all affairs.
To be blessed by God is not just a string of mere words. Mysteries about our lives are encoded in the blessing, part of which is to give direction on how we are to live in such a way that aligns with the likeness of God. An example is Jacob, the son of Isaac who was blessed in place of Esau. He left his father’s house with a stick but returned blessed in family and wealth. Another example is Judah, the son of Jacob who was blessed by his father Jacob-from his lineage, royalty was established through David including our Saviour Jesus Christ.
God’s design for man includes blessings that grant dominion and direction.
It is only the blessing of God that maketh rich (Proverbs 10:4) not by our might. The proof of a blessing is seen in the evidence of work. In Proverbs 10: 22, the Bible says that lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth. To activate God’s blessings, find something to do and invite God to take absolute control of your job or business. We must learn to back up our prayers with evidence of hard work.
As children of God, our lives should show that we are blessed. Our finances, health, spiritual growth and peace of mind should indicate that we are highly favored by God. May we collect a blessing that will change our lives and translate into riches in Jesus’ name, Amen.
