"But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up."
- Matthew 15:13 (NKJV)
In our previous devotional, we learnt about the anatomy of trouble and how to have mastery over it. Today is about acting so that matters troubling the waters remain forever at peace. In areas prone to natural disasters, we often see the authorities issuing travel advisories, evacuation alerts, or cautionary statements to residents so they could get to safety before a major incident happens. Similarly, we must be on alert and not just sit comfortably when trouble nears.
In Luke 7:11-15, we read a story about a woman living in a city called Nain. The city’s name implies green pastures, loveliness, pleasantness, and beauty. Naturally, you would have expected everything happening in the life of this woman to be beautiful but nay, it was far from it. She lost her husband, and trouble shook the very foundations of her family. She mourned, cried, sobbed until there were no more tears. As if that was not enough, trouble struck again and took her son.
Whatever is not going well in your life must be stopped in the place of prayer.
In John 10:10a, we read that the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. The devil always wants to take it all. The devil has neither compassion nor pity. He still went after her only son. Perhaps, if she had not met Jesus, at the gate of Nain, the next time we would be reading about how she also died. The cycle ended when she met Jesus. Every negative cycle and outcome in your life ends now as you meet with Jesus. Amen!
You must resist the devil in every form and intent. Whatever is not going well in your life must be stopped in the place of prayer. When you allow the devil a step in your life, home, family, finances, or marriage, he takes a mile, and eventually takes it all. When the headache shows up, resist it and declare it ends now. Don’t just ignore, or ‘wish’ it away, but declare your healing through the blood of Jesus. Many have progressed from ‘just headache’ to migraine and to more complex brain disorders or even death. Every storm usually starts with a single drop. Never allow the waters of bitterness, poverty, family disorder, failure or loss contrary waters to gather. It ends now!
