“Now the young woman was very beautiful to behold, a virgin; no man had known her. And she went down to the well, filled her pitcher, and came up.”
- Genesis 24:16 (NKJV)
The story of Rebekah in Genesis 24 provides timeless principles on relationships, particularly the qualities that attract a man to a woman. One of the key takeaways is the importance of presentation. While relationships should ultimately be grounded in faith, values, and character, the way we present ourselves often serves as the first point of connection.
Rebekah was described as “very beautiful to behold” even in a mundane moment—fetching water. This teaches us that excellence in presentation is not reserved for special occasions but should be a consistent practice.
Men are often visual beings. While inner beauty is critical, outward grooming and presentation play a role in initial attraction. Whether single or married, taking care of yourself reflects confidence and respect for how God created you.
Grooming is not about vanity but about stewardship. Just as we honor God with how we care for our spiritual lives, we honor Him by caring for our physical appearance. Scripture reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Maintain consistency in how you present yourself, regardless of life’s seasons.
Your presentation is an expression of the value God placed in creating you
True beauty is multifaceted. Proverbs 31:30 (NKJV) reminds us, “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.” While outward presentation is important, it should complement inner qualities like kindness, humility, and a strong relationship with God.
Genesis 2:22 highlights that God “built” the woman with care and intention. This means that every woman has been intricately and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Recognizing your unique beauty and presenting yourself with confidence aligns with God’s design for you.
Singles: Cultivate both your inner and outer beauty. Be intentional in how you present yourself in daily life.
Married Women: Avoid becoming complacent. Continue to invest in your appearance and relationship as you did in the beginning.
Everyone: Remember that beauty starts with honoring God through how you carry yourself.
Your presentation is not just about appearance—it’s an expression of the value God placed in creating you. Celebrate it, honor it, and use it to glorify Him.
