The Blessing of Grace IV

January 11, 2025

"But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."

- 1 Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV)

There is a unique blessing that empowers us to keep the testimony of Christ alive in our lives. These blessing releases grace and strength, enabling us to faithfully follow His Word and reflect His teachings. As Paul acknowledged, it was God's grace that allowed him to subdue his flesh and live according to God’s will. This grace is essential because believers face two types of contentions: the inner struggle between our sinful desires and the spirit, and the external opposition from the enemy, as described in Revelation 12:17. Without God’s grace, these battles would be impossible to win.

Philippians 2:13 assures us, “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” (NKJV) What a comforting truth! It is not about our own strength or discipline; it’s about relying on God’s strength to inspire us to desire and fulfil His will. This grace keeps us humble, dependent, and committed to Christ.

It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Consider Peter’s response in Acts 10:25-26 when Cornelius fell at his feet to worship him. Peter quickly redirected the worship to God, reminding Cornelius that he, too, was just a man. When God exalts us, we, like Peter, need the grace to remain humble and grounded, not swayed by the praise of others. Our talents, skills, and blessings are all gifts from God. As 1 Corinthians 4:7 asks, “What do you have that you did not receive?” A heart anchored in humility recognizes this truth.

As we reflect on today’s devotional, let us ask God for the blessing of grace that helps us remain humble when He exalts us and commit to redirecting all glory to Him.
