The Law of Light

July 16, 2024

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”

- Genesis 1:3

To truly understand the law of light, we must go back to the beginning and understudy how God applied this law in the creation journey. When God saw that darkness was over the earth and everything was chaotic, the first thing He introduced was the light. In the bible context of our anchor text today, light is described as illumination, knowledge, and the presence of God. Today, we’ll take a deeper look at this concept of light and how it applies to our lives.

Light gives visibility, creates a distinction between order and chaos. Imagine, coming into your home, and having the whole place dark without any guidance on where to go and what to do. That is the power of light. Everything, or plan you intend to carry out can only be done after the light is introduced. Therefore, the law of light implies that before any problem is solved, light must shine forth. This light as described above can either be the knowledge or the presence of God. It is not enough to confess that you are a carrier of light, if you do not turn that light on.

In Luke 24:13-35, on the road to Emmaus, Jesus was conversing with two followers after His resurrection. Despite being physically present in the body with them, they could not recognize Him because the light of the knowledge of Him was not there until He broke bread with them. God has placed you in that place, in that situation so you can manifest light. There is a knowledge that you must demonstrate that would bring about a shift in your life, family and the world at large. When you pursue the knowledge of God in all circumstances, you become a solution provider and new discoveries and ideas are birthed. Like the followers in Emmaus, who had Jesus but could not discern His presence, many have lost relationships, business opportunities and yet many are currently sitting and idling on a goldmine because they do not allow that light to radiate through them. Beloved, shine!

Lastly, the law of light demands that you cannot keep silent over your desired outcomes. In 1 John 1:5 (NIV), "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." It is the same God, the same light speaking in Genesis 1:3, our anchor text for today. If we are to interpose both scriptures, we could read it as The Light said, let there be light…God, the light did not just ‘assume’ the light would automatically shine, He made that bold pronouncement through the spoken word. Why have you kept silent when things seem not to be going your way? When was the last time you took a few minutes to confess and declare consistently what you want to see?

Today’s devotional comes with a call-to-action—ask the Lord to open your eyes to see what He already provided for you that would cause a breakthrough in your life. Make those positive confessions concerning what you want to see. As you go out today, may your light shine, and may you increase in the knowledge of our Lord in Jesus name.

Give me oil in my lamp

May my light never be dim

Give me oil by Minister Joe Mettle and Pastor Nathaniel Bassey

Prayer -  Lord, remove every darkness and veil from my eyes. Open my eyes to see, know and understand what I need to do at this time. This day, let my light so shine before men and let it no longer be hidden.
