Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.
Colossians 4:2 AMP
One of the ways that God restores us to His plans and purpose for our lives is by prayer. Prayer is communion between man and God; It is never a monologue. This is the principle followed in our daily early morning prayer sessions, speaking in tongues followed by hearing from God through the reading of the Word. In Jeremiah 33:3, the bible says, “call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
Here we see a call to prayer by God Himself. If God is asking you to call upon Him in prayer, then it means prayer is not optional neither is it an occasional thing. You must take prayer as a lifestyle.
When it comes to prayer, there are no substitutions – everyone is called to pray. While praying, it is also important to understand that God can respond to us in multiple ways - even ways beyond our thought process, mindset, and expectations. It is only God that answers prayers, not man. Your scope of work is to pray. 1Kings 18:24 says, “Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” So, all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.”
Prayer can change outcomes even when a judgment has already been passed.
Looking at the above text, God’s response to Elijah’s prayer was fire. When you look further in 1 Kings 18:41-45, where Elijah prayed again in the time of drought and God responded with the abundance of rain. Same chapter, same God, different responses! When it comes to prayer, you must be sensitive to know what God is specifically saying to you in response to what you are asking for.
Prayer can change outcomes even when a judgment has already been passed. If the people of Nineveh in Jonah 3:5 though evil, fasted, prayed and God changed His mind concerning the destruction of their city, how much more for a child of God? There is nothing too big for God to handle when you commit it in His hands.
In like manner, He is interested in every aspect of our lives whether big or small. Through prayer, we acknowledge that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His plans are always for our good. As we seek His will in prayer, we align ourselves with His kingdom purposes, experiencing a reset of our priorities and perspectives. When you pray, you are enforcing the Kingdom of God over every matter according to Matthew 6:10.
Again, just like fasting, it is wisdom to pray voluntarily rather than wait until the battle comes. As you go out today, make a commitment to make prayer a lifestyle. Before saying that matter to any man, make sure you have committed it to God in prayer and see God move the hearts of men in your favor.
