"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.”
- Numbers 6:24 - 26 (NKJV)
The blessing of God is transformative—a divine enablement that changes everything, opening doors of opportunity, favor, and peace. But how do we receive this blessing? The answer is simple: we ask. God’s blessings are available to us, but they must be intentionally activated through prayer and faith.
Asking signifies a heart that desires and values God’s blessing in their life. It recognizes that we cannot thrive without His favor. The difference between a life of struggle and one of abundance often lies in the presence of the blessing. Just as a vehicle relies on fuel, we are created to function on God’s blessing. Without it, life feels like a constant uphill climb. However, when His blessing rests upon us, it transforms our efforts into fruitful outcomes. This is why asking for His blessing is not just important—it is essential.
In Numbers 6:22-26, God instructs Moses to teach Aaron and his sons the words of blessing to speak over the children of Israel. These words hold immense power, not only for the Israelites but for all who walk in covenant with God. The blessing promises protection, grace, favor, and peace. Yet, as with all of God’s promises, there is a call to action—faith-filled asking.
Asking signifies a heart that desires and values God’s blessing in their life.
In Genesis 27:38, after missing the blessing his father Isaac intended for him, Esau cried out, “Bless me—me also, my father!” Although he did not receive the primary blessing, his desperate plea moved his father to speak over his life. Esau’s story reminds us that no matter what circumstances we find ourselves, our willingness to ask keeps the door open for divine intervention.
Today, ask for a blessing and accept the blessing of God! It makes all the difference. Declare Numbers 6:24-26 over yourself and others. Remember, asking is an act of faith, and God delights in responding to the prayers of His children.
