“And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
- Galatians 3:29 (NLT)
As believers in Christ, we have been grafted into the spiritual lineage of Abraham. Paul’s words to the Galatian church, a Gentile audience, remind us that through Christ, we are heirs to the same promises God gave to Abraham. This is a profound truth: the covenant of greatness that God made with Abraham now belongs to us.
This greatness is not reserved for a select few nor is it limited by your background, nationality, or circumstances. It is a promise from the unchanging God to everyone who belongs to Christ. It’s time to believe, receive, and walk in this promise.
The plan of greatness God had for Abraham and his descendants is the same plan He has for you. As Galatians 3:29 affirms, you are not just a distant observer of this promise — you are a full participant.
Consider God’s words to Abraham in Genesis 13:14-17 (NKJV), God calls you to see beyond your current circumstances. Greatness begins with vision — spiritual perception and understanding of what God has prepared for you. What you see by faith, God will bring to pass. His promise is as expansive as your faith and spiritual comprehension. Just as God told Abraham to "arise and walk," we must step out in faith and possess the promises of God.
You are not a bystander in God’s plan — you are an heir to His promises.
As heirs of God’s promise, we can expect that our best days are ahead. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV) "…. Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
This means that no matter the greatness you have already experienced, there is more! God’s plans for you exceed what you can imagine, and His promises are limitless. However, accessing this greatness requires aligning your vision with His Word.
Abraham’s journey shows us that greatness is tied to obedience and faith. When Abraham obeyed God and separated from Lot, God revealed the vastness of His promises. Sometimes, stepping into greatness requires letting go of relationships, habits, or mindsets that limit our vision.
God’s instruction to Abraham to “arise” and “walk” symbolizes an active response to His promises. Faith is not passive; it requires movement. Just as Abraham had to physically walk through the land to claim it, we must actively pursue God’s promises in our lives.
You are not a bystander in God’s plan — you are an heir to His promises. Lift your eyes, believe His Word, and walk boldly into the greatness He has prepared for you!
