Our thoughts are more powerful than we realize. They shape our actions, influence our emotions, and determine the quality of our lives. The Bible teaches us that even God, who is Spirit, has thoughts. This indicates that thinking is a spiritual activity!
Psalm 92:5 declares: "O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep" (NKJV). This verse illustrates that God’s great works are a product of His profound thoughts. Similarly, our ability to achieve remarkable results in life depends on the depth of our thinking.
Your Thoughts Shape Your Outcomes
Jesus emphasized the importance of thoughtful planning before taking action: "For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it—lest, after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him" (Luke 14:28-29 NKJV).
A life without thought and planning often leads to unfinished projects and unnecessary struggles. Deep thinking protects us from failure and embarrassment. The level of your thoughts determines the level of your achievements.
The level of your thoughts determines the level of your achievements.
Your Thoughts Affect Your Attitude
The story of Naaman in 2 Kings 5: illustrates how flawed thinking can lead to negative emotions. Naaman, a great military commander, expected Elisha to heal him in a dramatic fashion. When Elisha simply instructed him to wash in the Jordan River, Naaman became furious and almost missed his miracle.
"But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, 'Indeed, I said to myself, “He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy”'" (2 Kings 5:11 NKJV).
Naaman had already envisioned how his healing should occur. His assumptions led to specific expectations, and when reality didn’t align with his thoughts, he reacted with pride and anger. This demonstrates that wrong thinking can lead to wrong attitudes, causing us to reject God’s blessings.
Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life
Your life is a reflection of your thoughts. If you want to witness great works in your life, you must begin by thinking great thoughts. Philippians 4:8 provides clear guidance:
"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things" (Philippians 4:8 NKJV).
When you fill your mind with godly, positive, and faith-filled thoughts, your life will begin to reflect those ideals. Your thoughts are the foundation of your life. Think deeply. Think godly. Think big. Instead of reacting based on assumptions, choose to trust in God’s plan. When your thoughts align with His, your life will reflect His greatness!
