Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him… ‘We shall see what will become of his dreams!
Genesis 37:18–20 (NKJV)
Some oppositions do not come to delay. They come to destroy.
Joseph’s brothers did not simply dislike his dream. They wanted to erase it completely. They wanted to silence it and ensure it never had the chance to become a reality.
There are moments when our dreams face that kind of resistance.
As we continue exploring the theme of protecting our dreams, we begin to realize that not every challenge is casual. Some pressures are meant to wear us down. Some seasons are designed to test our endurance. Some moments whisper that the dream is no longer possible.
And slowly, a quiet question begins to form within us: Is it still worth it?
That question can be dangerous.
When a dream begins to die on the inside, it no longer needs an enemy on the outside to destroy it. The loss of hope alone can do the work.
Yet Scripture reminds us that even when Joseph’s dream was attacked, it was not destroyed. It passed through pits, through rejection, through confusion and delay, but it remained alive.
Not because things were easy, but because God was still at work.
Keeping a dream alive does not mean everything feels strong all the time. It means choosing to hold on, even when things are uncertain. It means believing that what God started still has a future, even when progress seems slow.
When a dream begins to die on the inside, it no longer needs an enemy on the outside to destroy it.
There will always be voices that question. Situations that discourage. Moments that test our faith.
But a dream from God carries resilience.
It can survive silence. It can endure misunderstanding. It can outlast opposition.
When contradictions appear and resistance increases, that is not the time to pull away from the presence of God. Stay near Him even when things seem unclear. Immerse yourself in His Word. Surround yourself with believers who strengthen your faith and remind you of God’s promises. Let your trust in God remain steady.
Our role is not to control every outcome. Our role is to keep the dream alive, to keep believing, to keep trusting, and to keep moving forward in faith.
Because what God has spoken never loses its power.
And what He has begun, He is still able to bring to life.
Song
Great is thy faithfulness,
Great is thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hast provided;
Great is thy faithfulness,
Lord unto me
Great is Thy faithfulness– Thomas O. Chisholm
Prayer – Lord, help me to keep the dream You have given me alive. When I face opposition or discouragement, strengthen my heart to keep believing. Remind me that You are still at work, even when I cannot see it clearly. Give me endurance to hold on and faith to trust You through every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
