O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep. A senseless man does not know, nor does a fool understand this.”
– Psalms 92:5-6 (NKJV)
One of the easiest truths to forget as a Christian is this: the way you think shapes the way you live.
The Bible tells us that God’s works are great because His thoughts are deep. That means your level of success is directly tied to the depth of your thoughts. Shallow thinking produces shallow results; deep thinking produces great works.
Our reference text mentions both a senseless man and a fool:
- A senseless man has no information—he lacks true understanding of what is happening around him.
- A fool, on the other hand, may have information but no understanding—he does not know how to apply it.
Many people today have knowledge, but few walk in understanding. A student can memorize facts and still fail an exam. A Christian can quote Bible verses and still live in defeat. Understanding is what turns knowledge into wisdom.
People desire success, breakthroughs, and spiritual growth—but their thinking keeps them stuck. The truth is: you cannot achieve great things with poor thinking.
The story of Daniel gives us a powerful picture. Daniel was a man of prayer, yes, but he was also a man of knowledge and a keen mind (Daniel 5:12, NIV). God used him because his mind was developed. He added depth of knowledge to his deep spirituality. Many pray for success but neglect the mental discipline required to walk in it.
Your faith is shaped by the way you think—especially about God.
If you believe God is a taker, you will struggle with giving.
Your faith will never rise above your level of understanding.
If you believe God is powerless, you will live in fear.
Your thoughts affect your faith.
Hebrews 11:17–19 (NKJV) tells us:
“By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac… concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead.”
Did you catch that? Abraham reasoned (thought deeply) that if God asked him to sacrifice Isaac, God had the power to raise him from the dead! His thinking produced great faith.
Your faith will never rise above your level of understanding.
3 Practical Ways to Develop Deep Thinking:
1. Meditate on the Word of God
Don’t just read—ponder it, reflect on it, and apply it. Isaac went out into the field to meditate. Do you have dedicated time to do the same? (Genesis 24:63 NKJV)
2. Use Visualization and Imagination
Genesis 11:6 shows us that what you imagine shapes your reality. If you see yourself as a failure, you will act like one. If you visualize walking in God’s promises, you’ll pursue them with boldness.
3. Seek Understanding, Not Just Knowledge
Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) reminds us:
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”
Knowing Scripture is not enough—you must understand how it applies to your life.
Deep thinking is a spiritual responsibility.
God is calling you to sharpen your mind, deepen your understanding, and grow your faith. Do not settle for shallow living. As you meditate, imagine, and seek understanding, you will rise into the fullness of the great life God has planned for you.

The Perfect Wisdom of Our God

Prayer – Lord, give me a keen mind like Daniel. Help me not only to acquire knowledge but to gain deep understanding. Let my thoughts align with Your Word so that my faith may grow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
