“However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age… but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory.”
- 1st Corinthians 2:6-7 (NKJV)
When it comes to the deep things of God, we encounter a profound truth: the wisdom of God did not begin with time. It existed before the ages.
Scripture declares that God ordained this hidden wisdom before history unfolded. Before kingdoms rose. Before generations were born. Before we faced our present challenges. The wisdom of God was already established.
This immediately sets divine wisdom apart from worldly wisdom. Human intelligence develops over time. It improves with research, experience, and error. But the wisdom of God is eternal. It does not evolve. It does not adjust. It does not react. It was settled before creation.
This means something powerful to us.
When we face situations that seem new, overwhelming, or confusing, we must remember that God is never responding in panic. What feels sudden to us was already known in the eternity past. What appears complicated to us is already resolved in His wisdom.
What appears complicated to us is already resolved in His wisdom.
The Apostle Paul calls it “hidden wisdom.” Not because God wants to frustrate us, but because it cannot be discovered through human reasoning alone. It must be revealed. The rulers of this age did not recognize it. If they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory – 1 Corinthians 2:8.
Therefore, when we trust in the wisdom of God, we anchor ourselves in something ancient, stable, and unshakeable. Our confidence must not rest in trends, opinions, or temporary solutions. It must rest in what God established long before we arrived.
Let us choose to lean on the Wisdom that existed before time. Let us choose to trust that the God who ordained salvation before the ages has also prepared answers for our present and future lives.
The deep things of God are eternal, and dependable.

Ancient Word, ever true
Changing me and changing you
We have come with open hearts
So let the ancient words impart.
Prayer – Father, we thank You that Your wisdom existed before the ages. When we feel uncertain, remind us that You are never surprised. Teach us to trust Your eternal wisdom above human reasoning. Reveal Your hidden wisdom in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen
