But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”
Daniel 3:18 (NKJV)

Faith is often celebrated for its victories—the healing received, the breakthrough experienced, the deliverance witnessed. But the faith of the three Hebrew boys shows us something deeper: faith that stands firm even when God’s answer is not the one we hoped for.

They declared, “Our God is able to deliver us.” Then they went further: “Even if He does not, we will not bow.” Their faith was not conditional. It wasn’t anchored to outcomes or expectations, but to the unshakable truth that God alone is worthy of worship.

This is faith that refuses to treat God as a means to an end. It honors Him not merely for what He does, but for who He is. In disappointment, in delay, and in prayers that seem unanswered, true faith holds steady. It does not bend to pressure or bow to fear when the outcome is uncertain.

In disappointment, in delay, and in prayers that seem unanswered, true faith holds steady.

How many of us will trust God if the healing doesn’t come, if the promotion is delayed, if the deliverance arrives in a form we didn’t imagine? This is the maturity that pleases God—the faith that bows only to Him, not to circumstances.

Today, may we set our hearts to follow God faithfully, no matter the outcome. We serve Him because He is God, not because of what we receive from His hand. Even if He does not do what we long for, He remains good, sovereign, and utterly worthy of our trust.

Though You Slay Me

By Shane & Shane

Prayer – Lord, deepen my faith so that I may trust You in every season. Teach me to worship You for who You are, not just for what You do. Give me grace to remain steadfast even when my prayers seem unanswered. May my life declare: I will not bow to any other, for You alone are my God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
