“And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, ‘Behold the Lamb of God!’”.
John 1:36 (NKJV)

Our devotional today is an adventure into the book of Revelation. In Revelation 5:1-4, a question was raised by one of the strong angels “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?”. John must have thought within himself, “Come on, this is heaven,” where the saints dwell. Everyone should be worthy to open the scroll and set loose the seals. Then the search went on, in heaven, there was found none. Well, perhaps, we could find such a worthy one here on earth. Again, no one was found worthy to open this scroll. John was disheartened, and he began to weep until he was comforted by one of the elders in heaven who gave the news that Jesus, the Lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seals. What a moment of relief!

Here comes the moment he was waiting for. John like many of us positioned himself to meet this acclaimed roaring Lion. Looking straight ahead, with a renewed sense of interest, expecting a roaring Lion probably with many crowns of conquest. As he looked on, behold sitting on the throne was a Lamb. A Lamb! One that has been slain instead. What then made Him worthy? To answer this question, we must understand what worthiness really entails. To be worthy means to be qualified for a position, having qualities that merit recognition.

Wait on the Lamb on the throne, Jesus, to direct your path.

In Revelations 7:17 (NLT), we see that taking the scroll is one thing, the Lamb, also sits on the throne. Jesus, the Lamb that sits forever on the throne met all the conditions to take the scroll containing mysteries, open the scroll and much more reign on the throne as King. Beloved, you are not alone. One of the benefits we enjoy as believers is access to the throne. In Exodus 2:1-10, even though Moses was not born an Egyptian, but by virtue of his adoption by the daughter of Pharaoh, he had access to all of the abundance, riches, rights, privilege, and status of the household of the king.

So much more, as you remain in Christ, you also have the same access. Access to obtain mercy, access to all that God has given unto you. This is why we go into the presence of God through Christ. Many times, we confront situations through our own knowledge, righteousness and face battles on the premises of our strength. It can only go as far as your natural limitations. When faced with life curveballs, remain in Christ. He is the only one worthy to unravel the mysteries, provide solutions and give you dominion to reign on the throne of that matter. The strength of man would surely fail, trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding and wait on the Lamb on the throne, Jesus, to direct your path.
