“Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years.”
– Genesis 1:14 (NKJV)
In this devotional series, we are learning how God works through seasons. Today, we focus on how God uses light to change seasons.
If seasons are governed by light, then God can shift what you are experiencing by releasing understanding, wisdom, and clarity into your life.
When God created the earth, He didn’t just create time, He established a system. Lights became markers for signs and seasons (Genesis 1:14). That means your seasons are not random; they respond to what God reveals. This is why knowledge matters in spiritual growth. Sometimes, your season doesn’t change because you need a different environment, you simply need light.
Light represents revelation. It is the understanding God gives when you seek Him. It is the wisdom that settles confusion and the perspective that breaks fear. When you receive light about a problem, that problem loses its power to keep you trapped. Darkness thrives through ignorance, but light exposes the way forward. That is why the Word of God is not merely information, it is illumination.
God changes seasons by releasing light, giving clarity, wisdom, and direction.
So, when you face issues that seem stubborn, whether emotional, financial, relational, or spiritual, do not only ask for escape. Ask for light. Ask God for understanding. Ask Him to show you what to do next and to reveal what you’ve missed. Often, one word from God can shift a season that has lasted for years.
This doesn’t mean you blame yourself for every delay. It means you position yourself for divine clarity. God loves to give wisdom generously, and when He does, your life begins to move. You start recognizing patterns. You notice doors you had overlooked. You begin to make decisions with confidence. You stop merely reacting — and start leading.
When light comes, your response matters. Light invites action. It calls you to adjust your steps, refine your habits, renew your expectations, and align your faith. Often, God answers prayers not only by changing our circumstances, but by changing us through revelation, preparing us and getting us ready to walk into the next season.
Today, choose one area of your life where you desire change. Write it down. Then pray specifically for light for understanding, wisdom, and direction. Afterward, open Scripture and read slowly, expecting God to highlight what you need. When He speaks, act on it, even if the instruction feels small.
Light changes everything. Let it change your season.
Prayer – Lord, You are the Father of lights. Shine Your light into my life. Give me understanding for what I’m facing and wisdom for what to do next. Let revelation change my season, and let Your Word guide my steps. I receive clarity and courage to obey. In Jesus’ name, amen.
