“Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit… we shall see what will become of his dreams!”
– Genesis 37:20 (NKJV)

Dreams attract opposition. It is not something we usually expect, but it is something we will encounter. When God places something meaningful within us, it often draws attention, and not all of it is kind.

Joseph had not yet arrived. He had not fulfilled anything. Yet his dream stirred a reaction. Before he even reached his brothers, they had already reached a decision about him, not because of what he had done, but because of what he carried. There is something about a dream that makes it visible, even from a distance.

It can feel personal when resistance comes. The weight of it can make us wonder if we have done something wrong. The opposition we encounter is rarely about who we are; it’s about the dream we carry.

Here lies a quiet truth: what God places inside us has value, and value is noticed. Do not be disheartened by opposition or challenge. They are often signs that you carry something of great worth.

In simple terms, fruit attracts attention. No one throws stones at a fruitless tree. The presence of fruit explains the presence of pressure.

No one throws stones at a fruitless tree.

Joseph’s coat was taken. His surroundings changed. His path became difficult. Yet one thing remained untouched—his dream.

There is something steady about what God places within us. It is not tied to our environment. It is not dependent on people’s opinions or reactions. It remains, even when everything else feels uncertain.

This is where quiet strength is formed. It is not loud or forceful. It is steady, a choice to keep holding what God has given, even when it is tested.

Staying Steady in the Middle of It All

Dreams attract opposition, but they also create endurance. They invite us to stay, trust, and continue.

We do not need to rush ahead or defend the dream at every turn. Sometimes, we are simply called to carry it faithfully. We walk with it and allow time and God’s hand to unfold what He began.

And in that place of quiet faithfulness, something beautiful happens.

The dream stays alive.

Prayer – Father, thank You for every dream You have placed within us. When opposition comes, help us to remain steady. Remind us that what You have given cannot be taken away. Strengthen our hearts to hold on and trust You through every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
