Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
Colossians 4:6 (NKJV)

Yesterday we began a series on the wonder woman, drawing lessons from the life of Abigail in 1 Samuel 25. Despite being married to a harsh and evil man, She was able to bring peace to her life and home. Today, we will focus on another quality that helped her deliver her household from destruction: approachability.

Approachability is the quality of being easy to talk to or reach out to—especially in terms of openness, friendliness, and a willingness to listen.

Even in the face of challenges, maintaining a warm demeanour is vital. Some people wear their struggles so visibly that it becomes difficult for others to truly connect with them. When help arrives, all that’s visible is the burden – not the reminder, especially for singles: don’t let your current situation cloud the beauty of who you are. Abigail in 1 Samuel 25:14-17 did not isolate herself or build emotional barricades. She was approachable enough that her husband’s servants felt safe coming to her with vital information that ultimately saved their entire household.

Smile more, choose to wear the glory of God on your face, rather than the weight of your problems. Many women have attracted their spouses not just by their physical beauty, but by the positive aura they radiate. Infact, medical studies suggest it takes more muscles to frown than to smile.

Many conflicts in marriages and relationships begin not because the words are wrong, but because the timing is.

Another quality Abigail displayed was emotional intelligence – the ability to wisely manage two different men with contrasting moods. Nabal was drunk and David was furious and ready to destroy her household. Yet Abigail knew the right time to speak to her husband, and the right words to speak to David, calming his anger with wisdom and grace.

This is the essence of Colossians 4:6 – knowing how to answer each one. Many conflicts in marriages and relationships begin not because the words are wrong, but because the timing is. This principle applies beyond the home as well. In the workplace, those who remain composed and gracious under pressure often stand out as true leaders.

Today, as you step out, don’t just wear a makeup – wear a smile too. Be approachable, be warm. Don’t let life’s challenges steal your joy. In time, may the Lord truly make your heart glad.

Song of Worship

I’m gonna dance and praise Him. It doesn’t matter what comes my way

The greater One lives inside of me. His name is Jesus

I’m born a winner. More than victorious

I’m a heir of His Kingdom. Filled with the Holy Ghost

Song : Rejoice by Sinach

Prayer – Thank You, Lord for the strength You give me each day. Even when my heart is heavy and life feels overwhelming, help me to wear a smile—not from pretending, but from trusting in You. Fill me with Your peace so that I may be a light to others. Teach me to be approachable, to speak with grace, and to carry myself with gentleness. Let my presence reflect Your love, even when I’m walking through storms. Use my quiet strength to encourage others, and let joy rise from within, rooted in the hope I have in You. Amen
