“If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures”
- Job 36:11 (NKJV)
Love for God is not only seen in worship or prayer—it is also revealed in service. To say we love God but refuse to serve His house or care for His people is a contradiction. True love expresses itself through action, and service is one of the clearest proofs of that love.
Scripture connects service to blessings. In Job 36:11, obedience and service lead to favor and fruitfulness. Likewise, Psalm 102:13–14 shows that God arises to favor those who “take pleasure in her stones and show favor to the dust of Zion.” In other words, those who love and invest in the wellbeing of God’s house attract His response.
This means that love is practical. It is seen in the usher who greets warmly, the cleaner who prepares the sanctuary, the intercessor who prays in secret, and the believer who checks in on a missing brother or sister. These acts may seem small, but in heaven’s eyes they are weighty. They reflect a heart that treasures God and values His people.
Serving is not always convenient—it often costs time, energy, or resources. Love costs something. The greater the value we place on God, the more willing we are to give ourselves for His purposes. And in doing so, we reflect Christ, who gave His all for us.
Love costs something.
Choose one way to actively serve this week—whether in your local church, in your community, or by helping a neighbor. Let it be an intentional expression of love for God.

I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
Prayer Father, thank You for showing me that service is love in action. Give me a heart that delights in Your house and in caring for Your people. May my service bring glory to You and become a channel of blessing to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
