- John 14:15 (NKJV)

Love is not just a feeling we talk about on special days—it is the very nature of God. When Scripture says “God is love” (1 John 4:8), it reminds us that love is more than emotion; it is character expressed in action.

Yet here lies the challenge: many profess love for God with their lips but struggle to show it in daily obedience. We may serve when it is convenient, pray when time permits, or forgive only when it is easy. But selective obedience is not true love. Jesus set the standard plainly—our love for God is proven through obedience to His Word.

This is the process of love: it begins vertically, with God. Jesus Himself showed us how. He declared, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me” (John 4:34). Obedience was not a burden for Him; it was His delight and sustenance. When we look at Christ, we see that true love is not about convenience but commitment. It is choosing God’s will above our own, even when it costs us something.

Jesus set the standard plainly—our love for God is proven through obedience to His Word

And here is the beauty: as we obey God, His love begins to flow outward into our relationships. Our obedience transforms into kindness, patience, forgiveness, and generosity toward others. The more we look to Jesus, the more His love is modeled in us and through us.

Don’t just say you love God—show it. Identify one area of your life where obedience has been difficult and ask for grace to yield fully to His Word.

Song of Worship

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word

What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will, He abides with us still

And with all who will trust and obey

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey

Prayer Father, thank You for showing me that love is not only in words but in obedience. Help me to delight in Your will the way Christ did. Teach me to walk in love daily—first toward You, and then toward others. May my life be a living proof of Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen
