“ The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.’”
– Psalms 92:12 (NKJV)
Over the next few days, we will explore what it means to flourish in Christ and how our ability to flourish is deeply connected to our deep understanding of the redemptive work of Christ Jesus. To flourish is not just a vague promise: it is a divine reality already accomplished in Christ.
The scriptural definition of flourish carries profound meaning. First, to flourish is to become what you have never been, yet what you were always destined to be. God designed you with a purpose, and flourishing is the process of walking fully in that design. Second, to flourish means to be heavy with fruit; like a tree bending under the weight of ripe produce or like a pregnant woman with new life. Third, it means to break into new levels suddenly, and finally, to flourish means to overflow beyond what you can contain.
God’s original mandate for mankind is to be fruitful. In Genesis 1:28, God commands us to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, subdue it, and have dominion. Again, in Psalm 72:7, a prophetic word declares that “the righteous will flourish.” God is not only willing, He has already made provision for you to flourish. But how do we make this truth our personal reality? It starts with a true understanding of redemption. As Christians, we must focus on and master one of the core foundational truths of the gospel: which is redemptive work of Christ.
YOU ARE flourishing.
Let’s look at Colossians 1:12–14: “Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”(NKJV). Notice the three powerful verbs: qualified, delivered, conveyed. All three are in past tense. This means you are not trying to earn redemption – you already have it! In the same way, when it comes to flourishing, you can boldly declare that you are not going to flourish but YOU ARE flourishing. You are not waiting to be blessed, healed, or fruitful, you ARE blessed, healed, and fruitful because of what Jesus has already done!
This changes everything. The key difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament is this: In the Old Testament people were looking up to the cross but in the New Testament right now, we are looking back at the cross and the complete, finished work of Jesus Christ!
Today, take a moment to declare what God has already completed in you. Live like someone who is flourishing. Meditate on this truth and start each day with the confidence that you have been redeemed to flourish!
Song of Worship
In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

Prayer – Father, thank You for redeeming me through the blood of Jesus. I declare that I am flourishing, fruitful, and overflowing because of what You have already done. Help me to walk daily in the reality of my redemption and live as one who is heavy with fruit and full of purpose. Amen.
