“Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”
Ephesians 6:1-3 (KJV)

In today’s culture, marriage is often diminished. The loudest voices mock commitment, glorify self over sacrifice, and treat family as an optional arrangement rather than a divine calling. But revival begins in the home, and this truth cannot be ignored.

When society dishonours God’s order, it breeds sorrow, fear, depression, and confusion. It strikes at the very place God designed to bring joy, unity, comfort, and strength: the family.

This is not a new problem. In John the Baptist’s day, the family system was upside down. Fathers had grown careless, absent, or harsh. Children were drifting away, drawn by worldly ideas, greed, and pride. Into that brokenness, John came with a God-given mission:

“…to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Luke 1:17

When God’s order is restored, His presence and power flow again. That is why revival begins in the home.

The enemy’s tactics haven’t changed. He still targets the home with lies such as:

  • “Marriage isn’t necessary.”
  • “Your freedom matters more than your family.”
  • “Follow your feelings, not God’s truth.”

Revival Begins in the Home

Yet God’s Word remains steadfast. In Ephesians 6:1–4, we are given His design:
Children, obey your parents in the Lord — for this is right. Honour your father and mother — which is the first commandment with a promise: “that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.”

When God’s order is broken, peace and blessing are lost. But when His order is restored, His presence and power flow again. That is why revival begins in the home.

So today, declare this over your life:
It shall be well with me. I shall live long on the earth.

Fathers, turn your hearts toward your children. Children, choose honour instead of rebellion. Families, close the door to the world’s lies and open your hearts to God’s unshakable truth. God’s design for family is not outdated — it is timeless. And it still works.

Prayer– Lord, let my family reflect on Your love. Make our home a place where You are honored, where unity replaces division, and where faith rises above fear. Help us shut the door to anything that steals peace and open our hearts to Your timeless design. And may our homes become part of a people prepared for the Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
