“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (NKJV)
From the beginning, Scripture has been pointing to Jesus. The promises, the prophecies, the patterns—all of it finds its meaning in Him.
As we come to the final part of this series on the power in Christ’s resurrection, there is something we should not overlook—His resurrection stands as a direct validation of the truth of Scripture.
When He arose, everything that had been spoken about Him came into view. Christ rising from the dead brings together what God had been saying from the start.
“And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.” — Luke 24:27 (NKJV)
He died according to the Scriptures. He was buried according to the Scriptures. He rose again according to the Scriptures. What was written was fulfilled, and what God has spoken still stands.
His rising gives weight to every word that spoke about Him. But beyond that, it gives us reason to trust what has been written in Scripture.
What God has spoken can be trusted because Christ is alive.
This is an aspect of Easter that is easy to forget. We often focus (rightly) on the victory He won and the freedom He secured. We celebrate the life we now have in Him. But the same resurrection that accomplished all of that also gives us full confidence in the Word of God. What God has spoken can be trusted because Christ is alive.
So when we open the Scriptures, we do so with confidence.
When the Word says the Lord is our shepherd, we hold on to it.
When it says He will keep us, we rest in it.
When it says He is with us, we live in that assurance.
Christ’s resurrection gives us confidence in the truth of Scripture. It settles it in our hearts that what God has said is dependable.
This is the confidence we have, and this is part of what we celebrate on Easter. Jesus is alive, and the Word that speaks of Him is sure.
We return to the Word again and again. We stay with it. We build our lives on it. The One who fulfilled the Scriptures is still alive, and what He has spoken remains dependable.
Today, we are reminded of this: the Word of God is trustworthy. Christ is risen, and because He is risen, we can rely on every promise He has spoken.
Song of Worship:
“Standing on the promises of Christ my King, through eternal ages let His praises ring.”
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You because You are alive. Thank You because Your Word is true and can be trusted. Help us to stand firmly on what You have spoken and to live with confidence in every promise. Strengthen our faith and teach us to rely fully on You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
