“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” - 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is love. How do you love the person who has wounded you?
How do you serve faithfully when your efforts go unnoticed? How do you extend kindness when bitterness feels easier?
Left to ourselves, real love often feels impossible.
That is why God gives us a protocol—a divine order—for love. This kind of love is not something we can produce by sheer willpower. It is something the Holy Spirit pours into us. As Romans 5:5 reminds us, “The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
This truth changes everything. When love feels out of reach, we do not give up—we lean on the Spirit of God. He is the Spirit of power, the Spirit of love, and the Spirit of a sound mind. He enables us to forgive when we cannot, to serve when we are weary, and to give when it costs us. His presence transforms love from a heavy burden into a beautiful witness of God’s nature at work within us.
When love feels out of reach, we do not give up—we lean on the Spirit of God.
The protocol of love is both simple and profound:
We acknowledge our weaknesses. We invite the Holy Spirit’s help. We obey His gentle promptings.
As we do, His love begins to flow naturally through us, shaping our thoughts, words, and actions. We learn to love not out of obligation – but out of divine overflow.
Today, when love feels difficult, pray this simple prayer: “Holy Spirit, I cannot love on my own. Help me.” Then watch as He fills your heart with the strength, compassion, and willingness to do what once felt impossible.
Song of Worship
I love You, Lord, And I lift my voice
To worship You. Oh, my soul rejoice
Take joy my King, In what You hear
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound
In Your ear
Prayer Holy Spirit, I confess that on my own, I fall short of true love. Fill me with Your power and let the love of God overflow in my heart. Teach me to walk in obedience to Your leading so that my life reflects the nature of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
