“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.”
Luke 1:13 NKJV

When a head of state is about to arrive—say the Prime Minister of Canada—there is always movement before the moment. Roads are secured, officials go ahead, and protocol is activated. You may not see the leader yet, but you know someone important is coming. That is how arrival works in the natural, and it is exactly how God works in the spiritual.

Before Jesus, the Son of God, stepped onto the stage of history, God sent forerunners to prepare the way. Their names were Zechariah, Elizabeth, and John. They were not random individuals; they were divine signals. Through their lives, heaven was announcing that the King was coming.

Every king is preceded by an announcement. John the Baptist was the voice crying in the wilderness, “Prepare the way of the Lord.” But behind John were his parents—Zechariah and Elizabeth—the quiet carriers of a greater message. Even their names proclaimed God’s plan.

Zechariah means “Jehovah remembers.”

Elizabeth means “the oath of God.”

 John means “Jehovah is gracious.”

Delay is not deletion.

Put together, their names declare a divine sermon: Jehovah remembers His oath and graciously fulfills His promise.

That promise began with Abraham. In Genesis 22, God swore by Himself that through Abraham’s seed all the nations would be blessed. For centuries, God seemed silent, but when the time was right, His plan began to unfold. Zechariah proclaimed remembrance. Elizabeth represented the oath. John embodied grace. Together, they pointed to Jesus, the promised Seed.

This is proof that God remembers. Delay is not deletion. What He promised, He will perform. What He spoke, He will fulfill.

What are the odds that one family’s names would tell heaven’s story? Not chance—divine orchestration. Long before the manger, God was already in motion.

Beloved, if you are waiting, take heart. The movement you see may be the signal that your promise is near. God still remembers. He still keeps His oath. And He is still the gracious Giver.

Promises Never Fail

Bethel Music

Prayer – Lord, we ask that our lives become carriers of Your agenda. Let our words shift atmospheres, strengthen destinies, and confirm Your will on the earth. May what we carry attract what You have ordained, and may our obedience align us with the unfolding of Your story. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
