“And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come.”
– Matthew 11:14 (NKJV)
Sometimes God’s greatest confirmations about who you are and what you are called to do will not come in the absence of doubt, but in the middle of it. Jesus’ words about John the Baptist were spoken into a setting where the popular opinion and the theological consensus said otherwise. Many believed Elijah had not yet come, and therefore the Messiah could not have appeared. Yet Jesus declared, “If you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come.” The question was not whether it was true, but whether they were willing to believe it.
John the Baptist’s ministry had stirred an entire nation, but even he began to wrestle with questions when imprisoned. This was the same man who boldly proclaimed in John 1:29, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world”, yet later sent messengers to ask Jesus in Matthew 11:13, “Are You the one, or should we look for another?”. His uncertainty mirrors a reality many of us face as believers: knowing our calling in one season, then questioning it in another when circumstances shift.
Heaven’s definition of you is settled—be willing to believe and walk in it.
Jesus understood both the power of John’s ministry and the limitation of his self-perception. John had embraced the spirit and nature of Elijah’s ministry but had not fully grasped the authority and ordination he carried. This gap left room for doubt in himself and misunderstanding among others. Jesus made it clear: heaven had already defined his role. The only question was whether the listeners were willing to accept it.
This principle is powerful for us today. God’s definition of who you are is settled in heaven, but its manifestation in your life often hinges on your willingness to agree with Him. Circumstances, people’s opinions, and even your own insecurities may try to convince you otherwise, but Heaven’s record does not change. You are the one He has chosen and anointed for specific assignments, the one equipped to break certain generational patterns, the one chosen to stand in the gap for others.
Willingness is key. The things you fear are often more afraid of you than you realize. The battles you face may be loud and intimidating, but they are not stronger than the ordination resting on your life. When you accept God’s declaration over your life, hesitation gives way to holy boldness.

I know who I am
By Sinach
Prayer – Lord, I choose to agree with Your word over my life. Remove every fear, doubt, and hesitation that keeps me from stepping fully into my calling. I declare that I am willing to receive what You have spoken about me. Help me to walk boldly in my assignment, knowing that You have equipped me for every battle I will face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
