“But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.”
– Matthew 6:3–4 (NKJV)

True giving is not measured by the amount we present, but by the heart from which it flows. In a world that often rewards performance and public applause, Jesus redirects our attention to a hidden place—the secret place—where divine transactions take place. This is the realm where giving becomes spiritual, where it shifts from an obligation to an offering, and from a performance to worship.

Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6 reveals that giving, though physical and public, is ultimately a spiritual act that God evaluates from a different vantage point: the heart. Jesus doesn’t merely instruct us to give—He commands us to give from the secret place. This means our generosity must originate from a place of intimacy with God, not performance before men. “Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” This striking metaphor warns against internal self-congratulation, pride, or the desire to impress others.

This is what sets giving apart as a demonstration of spiritual power. It isn’t merely financial—it’s prophetic. It’s an act that moves heaven when it is done from a surrendered heart. Cain gave, but Abel’s offering had weight in heaven. Why? Because it was offered in faith, from a heart that feared and honored God.

True giving is not measured by the amount we present, but by the heart from which it flows.

Many give today, yet see no return—not because God is unfaithful, but because the secret place is empty. There’s no worship, no obedience, no brokenness, and no joy in the giving. We offer from convenience, not conviction.

God doesn’t reward acts—He rewards the spiritual weight behind them. That’s why Jesus said, “Your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” The reward isn’t determined by human recognition but by divine approval. And the secret place is where that approval is secured.

Giving is more than charity; it is spiritual warfare, prophetic obedience, and intimate worship. The secret place is not about being hidden from people—it’s about being exposed before God. If we want our giving to release power, open doors, and provoke divine visitation, we must return to that place of pure motives and undivided worship. Let your next offering be more than a transfer of money—let it be a transfer of your heart. That’s where heaven responds.

Song

Lord I give you my Heart

Song by Hillsong Worship

Prayer – Father, I thank You for the privilege to give. Help me never to give from habit or pressure, but from the sacred place of communion with You. Strip away every false motive. Purify my intentions. May every seed I give rise as incense before You. Let it reflect my love, my trust, and my worship. And as You promised, reward it according to Your will—openly and powerfully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
