“When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick”
- Matthew 8:16 (NKJV)

One of the remarkable truths about Jesus’ ministry is that He healed by command. Unlike what we often see today—long prayers and anxious pleadings—Jesus spoke with authority, and sickness obeyed. He simply said, “Be clean,” or “Rise, take up your bed and walk,” and it was so.

This shows us that healing is not a negotiation with God. It is an enforcement of what Christ has already paid for on the cross.

In John 11, at Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus did not pray a long prayer for resurrection. He simply cried out, “Lazarus, come forth!” and the dead man responded to His voice.

What does this mean for us today? It means that the Word of God in our mouths carries power when spoken in faith. Healing through command reminds us that we are not powerless victims of sickness. Instead, as children of God, we are called to echo the voice of Christ and declare His will over our bodies, our homes, and our loved ones.

Healing comes not by pleading, but by speaking God’s Word with the authority Jesus used.

Too often, we tolerate what Jesus already conquered. We beg, we weep, we fear—but heaven is waiting for us to speak with authority. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. When we declare God’s Word over sickness, we align with His authority and enforce His victory.

Perhaps you have been praying endlessly about a condition that lingers. Today, take a step further: shift from petition to proclamation. Instead of only asking, begin commanding in faith. Say, “In the name of Jesus, sickness, leave my body!” or “By His stripes, I am healed!” Just as Jesus spoke and it was so, your words of faith will not return empty but will accomplish what God has promised (Isaiah 55:11).

Healing flows when faith meets authority. And that authority does not rest in us, but in the name of Jesus—the name above every name. Amen

Song of Worship

Jesus paid it all

All to Him I owe

Sin had left a crimson stain

He washed it white as snow

Prayer – Lord Jesus, thank You for showing me the power of Your Word. Teach me to speak with faith and authority, refusing to bow to sickness or fear. Today, I declare that healing is mine, and every chain of affliction is broken in Jesus’ name. Amen
