“Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’ Immediately his leprosy was cleansed””
- Matthew 8:3 (NKJV)
In Matthew 8:3, we see Jesus breaking cultural and religious barriers by touching a leper. According to Jewish law, lepers were untouchable, but Christ extended His hand anyway. That touch was more than physical contact—it was divine connection. It communicated, “You are not beyond My reach.”
One of the striking patterns in the healing ministry of Jesus was the use of contact. He often reached out to touch the sick, and in that simple yet powerful act, healing flowed.
There is something profound about contact. In Peter’s home, Jesus simply touched his mother-in-law’s hand, and the fever left her (Matthew 8:14–15). In another instance, those who touched even the fringe of His garment were healed (Matthew 14:35–36). The common thread in these stories is that contact served as the point of faith connection between the human and the divine.
Jesus’ healing touch shows that contact becomes a point where faith meets God’s power.
The touch symbolized the transfer of God’s power to a willing heart. Faith met power at the point of contact, and healing manifested. In the same way, God can use contact today—whether through the laying on of hands, the anointing with oil, or even through objects that have been prayed over, just as in Acts 19:12. The principle remains: when faith connects with divine power, miracles happen.
This challenges us not to trivialize contact. Too often, we can approach moments of prayer, anointing, or laying on of hands casually. But Scripture shows us that God honors such encounters as channels of healing and breakthrough. The key is faith. Faith that God is willing. Faith that His touch makes us whole.
May the Lord touch you afresh and restore you fully in Jesus’ name.

Oh, He touched me, oh He touched me, He touched me
And oh, the joy that floods my soul
Something happened and now I know
He touched me and made me whole
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for showing me that I am never untouchable. By faith, I receive Your healing touch today. Let every sickness, affliction, and weakness leave me now. May my life continually testify to Your power and compassion. Amen.
