“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.”

Acts 2:1-2 (KJV)

The Holy Spirit longs to move in and through us in deeper, more powerful ways. His desire is not limited to one-time encounters or occasional manifestations. Just as “the path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day” (Proverbs 4:18 NIV), our experience of the Holy Spirit can also grow and increase over time. God is a God of increase, and He wants us to experience more of His Spirit – more presence, more power, more transformation. We are not called to settle for past encounters. We are invited into ongoing, increasing demonstrations of the Spirit in our lives and gatherings.

Is it possible to provoke and increase the manifestation of the Holy Spirit? Yes, when we become more aware of His presence and more aligned with His purposes, we begin to see Him move at deeper levels. But this increase is not automatic, it is cultivated. Scripture shows us seven key ways we can stir and respond to the Holy Spirit’s move.

First, personal faith is essential. We must believe God for the move of the Spirit. Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Faith is the soil in which the Holy Spirit moves. We must intentionally expect and believe that the Spirit desires to manifest Himself among us.

Second, we must be spiritually hungry. Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Just like David cried out in Psalm 42:1–2, our souls must long for God with real desire. Hunger draws heaven’s attention.

Position yourself for more.

Third, we must learn to yield to the Holy Spirit. He will not force Himself on anyone. To yield means to release control, to step back and allow Him to lead. When we resist Him, His move is hindered.

Fourth, we need to cooperate with the Holy Spirit. Cooperation means partnership – it means listening, obeying, and flowing with Him. Like Mary told the servants at the wedding in Cana, “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5).

Fifth, we must remain open, not closed. The Holy Spirit cannot move where He is boxed in by our expectations or traditions or stifled by our stubbornness. An open heart welcomes divine interruptions.

Sixth, we must be expectant. Expectation means looking forward with anticipation. Proverbs 24:14b NIV reminds us, “There is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” Expectancy prepares the atmosphere for manifestation. Finally, we need to be sensitive. This means being aware of the Spirit’s presence, recognizing His stirrings, and responding promptly. Sensitivity grows in stillness, prayer, and ongoing fellowship with God.

Today, and everyday, position yourself for more. Ask the Holy Spirit to deepen your hunger and increase your sensitivity. Believe for more, expect more, and yield more. Let God take you to greater dimensions of His Spirit’s manifestation and demonstration.

Move, Spirit Move

Song by Ron Kenoly

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I want more of You. Stir my heart with faith and hunger. Teach me to yield, to listen, and to cooperate with You fully. Remove every barrier and make me sensitive to Your presence. Manifest and demonstrate Your power in my life today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
