Again He said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, “O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!
— Ezekiel 37:4 (NKJV)

There are seasons in life when we feel like dry bones. In other words, in that period of time we feel disconnected, lifeless, and devoid of hope. We may smile outwardly while inside, we feel hollow and defeated. But the Spirit of resurrection is not intimidated by dry places. As in Ezekiel’s vision, God speaks life into what is dead and calls us to participate in the miracle through faith and declaration.

Ezekiel 37 presents a powerful picture of restoration. God brings the prophet to a valley full of dry bones – a symbol of complete desolation. Then He asks, “Can these bones live?”

The human response would be a resigned “no”. But Ezekiel wisely says, “O Lord God, You know.”

God then commands him to prophesy to the bones. This is significant. Resurrection power is often released through divine partnership through our obedience, faith, and declarations. Ezekiel speaks the word, and the Spirit of God responds. There is a noise, a rattling, a coming together. What was once dead now stands as a mighty army.

The human response would be a resigned “no”. But Ezekiel wisely says, “O Lord God, You know.”

Are there dry bones in your life? Broken dreams? Strained relationships? Stagnant faith?

Do not write yourself off just yet.

Begin to speak the Word of the Lord over those places. The same Spirit that revived an army in a valley is active today, calling forth life from your barren situations.

This passage also teaches that the Spirit not only restores form (sinews, skin, structure) but breathes in function (breath, purpose, movement). It is one thing to be put back together; it’s another to be animated by divine breath. The Spirit of resurrection doesn’t just rebuild us. In addition, He re-empowers us for kingdom impact.

You may find yourself going through a dry bones experience today but know this: God sees an army. Don’t settle for survival when you are called to revival. The Spirit of resurrection brings life, movement, and mission. Stand up, speak out, and let the breath of God fill your life again.

Song of Worship

I’m working in power – 1x

I’m working miracles – 1x

I live a life of favour – 1x

I know who I am – 1x

Prayer – Lord God, I surrender every dry place in my life to You. Breathe afresh upon me by Your Spirit. Let my heart come alive with Your promises. Give me the courage to speak Your Word over my situations and the faith to expect a miracle. Raise me up to be a testimony of Your power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
