“That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” Matthew 6:4,6 …

“That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
Matthew 6:4,6 (KJV)
Jesus didn’t leave His church powerless. He handed over key spiritual principles that unlock doors, shift seasons, and release divine interventions. Among these keys, two stand out as both ancient and powerful: Giving and Prayer. These are not just religious activities. They are sacred tools. But something has shifted. In many circles today, the wheat has been mixed with tares, pure giving replaced with self-promotion; prayer replaced with formality. The result? The power is gone, and frustration has set in. Giving and prayer remain timeless tools with eternal impact.
Let us rediscover their true purpose.
Key 1: Giving—The Power to Attract God’s Testimony
“By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.” (Hebrews 11:4 KJV). Abel’s offering didn’t just touch an altar. It touched God. His giving was so profound that heaven testified. Not long prayers. Not loud declarations. His gift spoke.
True giving isn’t about the amount, it’s about honor, honoring God in secret. When Jesus taught on giving in Matthew 6, He emphasized motive: Don’t do it for show. Do it for God. When your left hand doesn’t know what your right hand is doing, Heaven knows. And He who sees in secret will reward you openly. Too often, what we call giving is sterile, motivated by pressure, performance, or pride. But real giving, like Abel’s, draws heaven’s attention and releases rewards.
Key 2: Prayer—The Power to Pull Heaven Down
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” (Matthew 6:6 KJV). Prayer isn’t a stage act. It’s a private transaction with a public impact. It’s where you shut the door to the noise, the opinions, the applause and speak with the One who holds the world.
Jesus said, “Don’t be like the hypocrites.” Why? Because they pray to be seen. But real prayer moves the unseen realm. It brings God into impossible situations. Your testimony proved it: medical science said “no”, but prayer said “yes”. God showed up, not because of volume, but because of faith-filled, heart-led prayer.
The Warning: Substitutes Are Powerless
Not everything labelled as “giving” is truly giving. Not everything labelled as “prayer” is actually prayer. Like naming your dog “apostle” does not change the nature of the dog.
There is a giving that God does not count, and a kind of praying that never reaches Heaven. Why? Because they are tares, disguised, empty, and deceptive. Let’s return to reality. Jesus gave us the blueprint. And He promised a reward, not maybe, not possibly, but surely.

Prayer – Lord, bring me back to the power of secret giving and secret prayer. Strip away performance, pride, and every tare that has grown in place of truth. Teach me again the power of these keys—and reward me, not for show, but because I seek You in spirit and in truth. Amen.
