“And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.
– Luke 2:42 (KJV)

Jesus knew His purpose early. At the age of twelve, He wasn’t lost – He was engaged in destiny. When His earthly parents found Him in the temple, He spoke not as a child wandering off, but as a Son burdened by divine business. “I must be about My Father’s business.” This was not a moment of confusion – it was clarity born of identity.

Yet, despite that clarity, He didn’t begin ministry immediately. Why? Because zeal is not capacity, and calling is not the same as readiness.

Luke 2:52 shows us Jesus’ path: He increased in wisdom, stature, and favor. This growth continued for 18 years until He was ready to change narratives, challenge systems, and deliver the oppressed.

When Jesus met the woman bound for 18 years in Luke 13, He didn’t comfort her pain – He judged it. He didn’t explain the bondage – He broke it. He didn’t delay deliverance – He declared freedom. Why? Because now He had the spiritual capacity to enforce the Father’s will.

Heaven waits for prepared instruments.

The woman had been bound for 18 years – the exact length of time Jesus had been growing in preparation since the temple moment.

It took Jesus 18 years of growing in wisdom, stature, and favor before He could execute the will of God over her life.

Heaven Waits for Prepared Instruments . The bondage in your family, in your community, or in your generation may not persist because God lacks power. It persists because the instrument is not ready.

God uses people. And when the vessel isn’t prepared, Heaven waits.

Jesus had to grow before He could act. Your growth is a form of warfare. Your discipline is a divine strategy. Your wisdom is weaponry. Don’t despise the process – lean into it.

Because when you grow into your assignment, bondage will break, darkness will lift, and verdicts will be rendered.

Song by MercyMe

Prayer – Father, thank You for the burden of purpose. Help me not just to know what I am called to do, but to grow into it. Teach me wisdom, increase my stature, and clothe me in favor so that I may be ready when my hour comes. Use me, Lord—not just as a voice, but as a vessel that can shift atmospheres. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
