Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain..
John 12:24 (NKJV)
Until you have a word from God, you truly do not have anything. And a poor man, in truth, is a man without the Word. Throughout the story of creation, God referenced trees bearing fruit with seed in them. This means the command to be fruitful is possible because the seed is already within you. Anytime you sow, you activate what God has already blessed. This devotional explores the power of the seed; how faith, giving, and obedience activate God’s promises and bring transformation, even in times of pressure or uncertainty.
In Genesis 26:3, God told Isaac: “Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you.” Yet, in verse 12, it was Isaac’s act of sowing that triggered the manifestation of that word. The seed became the key to the promise. The problem with most believers is they often eat their seed while they keep demanding harvest from God.
The seed is what guarantees automated results. It is a self-sustaining principle that guarantees continuity. Psalm 126:6 reminds us: “He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing…” Even in weeping, seedtime must not fade away. It’s not tears that bring change—it’s the application of the seed. Whether in joy or hardship, never let go of the principle of sowing.
The seed is what guarantees automated results.
Another dimension of the seed is its ability to subdue. A seed is any valuable resource released with the intent of reaping a return, this could be money, time, service, or anything meaningful. We often think only of money, but your time is just as powerful. You trade your life’s time for income, so money represents a part of your life. Your money is a seed because a measure of your life’s worth was exchanged to earn it. That’s what makes giving so personal—your money is your seed.
In 2 Corinthians 9:1–3 (NLT), Paul writes: “I don’t need to write to you about the ministry of giving… your enthusiasm stirred others to give.” That’s seed power in action. Giving, help, offerings, these can all be directed to subdue a challenge.
In 2 Samuel 24:24–25, a deadly plague in Israel was stopped by the force of a seed—David’s offering. Likewise, in Matthew 26:6–13, a woman poured expensive perfume on Jesus. Though criticized, her seed became an eternal testimony. Even today, voices still question giving to the church. But like a farmer who does not withhold his seed when expecting a harvest, believers must give time, service, and resources wholeheartedly.
God will never owe anyone. If you are able to give, it’s because He first gave you breath, strength, and work.
Are you facing a challenge that seems unshakable? Or struggling to break through in life? Today, engage the power of the seed. What’s in your hand may look small, but once planted, it holds the potential for a thousand trees.
Song of Worship
And I will not be silent
I will always worship You
As long as I am breathing
I will always worship You
Song My Worship by Phil Thompson
Prayer – Lord help me to silence the voice of the flesh depriving me of giving to the Lord. As I give, and sow seeds towards the work of the Lord, let every situation and unfavorable circumstances in my life be subdued in Jesus name
